History Behind Float Therapy

Float Pods were created by John C. Lilly in the 1950s. He used the tanks to test effects on things such as creativity, connection to others, and concentration. The health and wellness benefits of floatation therapy varies: physical, emotional, neurological, psychological. It is noted to help with pain management and reduction, depression and anxiety treatment, insomnia relief, lower cortisol levels, PTSD treatment, blood pressure reduction, muscle and injury recovery, visual processing, and much more.

In the gravity-free environment of the float tank, the body balances and heals internally as the senses rest. Research shows that floating measurably reduces blood pressure and heart rate while lowering the level of stress-related chemicals in the body. One hour of floating can have the restorative effects of four hours of sleep. It is recommended that you float at least three times to get a sense of floating and how it can impact you individually.
